Primary Function:
& Major Responsibilities To prepare food, stock supplies, provide service to all customers and/or perform sanitation tasks that relate to food preparation and service.
Prepares food in an efficient, safe and timely manner according to department service times and schedules.
Covers, labels, dates and rotates all food prior to storing to ensure department and regulatory agency standards are met.
Practices proper infection control methods including hand-washing, personal hygiene and infection control policies.
Performs a specific job task on tray line during the assembly of patient trays.
Delivers trays to patients and collects trays after meal service.
Delivers floor stock and/or nourishments to patients and nursing units.
Washes dishes and/or pots and pans according to established procedures and time frames.
Prepares food items for service using standardized recipes, following proper techniques.
Performs a variety of cafeteria and/or coffee shop duties which may include plating, using portion control and cashiering operation.
Understands the security requirements of medications and IV solutions.
Qualifications: Education:
High school diploma or equivalent, or actively pursuing.
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Experience:
Prior experience not required.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to be on feet for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to follow written and oral directions.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to read, write, and speak English and complete basic mathematical problems.
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups (pediatric through geriatric).
Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s needs in relation to age and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
