The Merchandiser III has the opportunity to positively impact ADM’s growing fertilizer business. Reporting to the area supervisor, the Merchandiser III will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key strategic accounts. The Merchandiser III will develop a clear understanding of the trends in local, national, & world markets in order to strategically seek out new business opportunities. As a seasoned merchandiser you will be expected to exercise a high level of strategic thinking and have the capacity to assist the area supervisor with watching the position and other various projects as needed. Key Skills & Competencies: Analytical Thinking Impact & Influence Achievement Orientation Information Seeking Business Savvy Conceptual Thinking Strategic Business Planning and budgeting annually Responsibilities: Potential responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Maintain a clear customer account list that is defined by volume, price and strategic benefit to ADM Locations Ensure the most cost efficient transportation and logistics Strategize & collaborate with customers in order to add value to both companies Prepare & give presentations of influence to upper management as well as outside customers Provide detailed business opportunities such as supply agreements & joint ventures to Supervisor Prepare annual budgeting and monitor Accounts Receivables Develop a good working knowledge of freight spreads and competitor activities & form future business strategy Handle all compliance & audit related issues in a timely manner to ensure compliance with corporate mandates Develop superior knowledge of plant operations and guide operations through presentations and daily examples of cost saving and margin enhancing synergies Prepare and submits daily & ad hoc reports Contribute to the development & training of new employees External Job Description - Continued Qualifications: To be considered for an opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria: Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or business (i.e. economics, finance, accounting), supplemented with a minimum of five (5) years experience in the marketing of Fertilizer commodities or other agricultural based products in North America; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered; master’s degree is preferred but not required Demonstrated capacity to excel within high risk, fast-paced work environment; Proven ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions; Demonstrated negotiation and interpersonal skills Exceptional communication skills; able to communicate with all levels of the organization; portray positive image of self and company at all times Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of domestic trade Proven ability to manage effectively within a team based work environment Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with end-users, suppliers, and internal customers Previous experience using Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. – Excel, Word, Access, Outlook) Committed to corporate ethics policies & safety programs Willing and able to attend training sessions (external or internal) to keep on top of new technology and innovation Willing to work overtime, weekends or holidays when needed Relocation assistance is available with this position.
