Responsibilities
The clerk is responsible for all clerical duties associated with the unit to which they are assigned. The clerk is also the first and sometimes primary point of contact for patients, visitors, nurses, physicians and other providers. It is the job of the clerk to present an image to all customers including patients, visitors, nurses, physicians, and other providers that indicate competence, safety, and security. The clerk has four main customers: patients, visitors, nurses and physicians.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
- One year experience in a healthcare setting such as medical office, hospital or laboratory preferred, OR certification as health unit coordinator.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Normal office environment with minimal exposure to noise, dust, or extreme temperatures.
