Job Summary
A Design Engineer is responsible for the overall execution of tactical efforts that will target and exceed the overall quality, cost effectiveness, and efficient operations for all plants within the organization Develops and plans policies and procedures that analyze and recommend improvements to production operations and processes evaluate and recommend changes to plant layouts, operations and labor staffing. Contribute to and assist with projects relating to plant layouts and efficiencies offing project management skills and design expertise.

Overall Duties
Contributes to critical practices that will maximize the operational results for the engineering function as it relates to plant design, layout and operational flow.
Effectively builds standardized processes within plant operations to leverage opportunities for efficient operations. Seeks cross-functional input on standards generation, ensures consistent execution to standards, and establishes a timely review of standards to ensure on-going impact of bottom-line results.
Adheres to corporate standards for the planning and coordination of projects and ensure appropriate data, reports, schedules and budgeting information is processed in a timely manner.
Provides consultation and advice to others, decision making and problem solving on matters of plant design.
Consistently seeks improvement and excellence in job skills.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
Audits and adjust plant design, layout and operational flow ensuring maximized throughput with a minimum of cost. Specific focus on:
Boiler room component design, steam, water supply system, condensate system
Process laundry equipment
Control system design experience preferred
Plans layout of production facilities to provide maximum possible operating efficiency
Studies sequence of operations to be performed and flow of materials.
Assists with project management of plant design as needed.
Prepare bid specification documents and contracts- purchase orders
Creating reports and presentations for project management supervisors
Assist director of Engineering in controlling project cost
Indirect supervision of equipment support & installations
Measures and studies available floor space and draws plan of floor space to scale, using drafting tools
Coordinates all available knowledge and information into finished scale drawing, showing most efficient location for each piece of equipment and necessary working area around each.
Plant Design
Financial Management
Directs and coordinates financial and budget activities to fund effective plant design that maximize investments, and increase efficiency.
Reviews financial statements, reports, and other plant operational performance data in a dedicated manner. Measures financial productivity and goal achievement to determine areas in need of remediation and improvement. Takes proactive approach to managing gaps in performance data.
Periodically determines capital requirements for equipment and other items as needed to meet the financial goals for the Company.
Safety
Maintains steady communication with key leaders within the branch to ensure safety is a topic of keen interest.
Works with and through the district safety coordinators to ensure the branches are consistent in their management and application of safety tasks and activities related to quality assurance applications.
Attends OSHA training in the US or Provincial regulatory safety training in Canada.
Requirements
Minimum Education/Experience
Industrial Engineering degree or equivalent experience
A professional skill level in the use of CAD software is expected, using engineering and design principles to maximize output
Capability to work in a fast paced work environment
Proved track record of increasing responsibility with documented business results
Capability to work with people and teams in a collaborative and supportive manner strongly desired.
Master’s Degree in industrial engineering or related field
Experience in industrial design
Industrial laundry experience
Electrical & electronic back ground
Strong problem solving skills
Capable of coming up with creative approaches for generating new ideas and improving existing processes or products in the unit.
Preferred Education Experience

Travel requirements
