Claims Service Representative

Responsible for all support functions that service the Claims Department.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Set up new claim files - assign claim number, set up file in the POINT system and folder for hard copy documentation, obtain necessary accident information, make detailed notes regarding loss reporting, and refer the file for assignment to adjuster.
  • Clerical support for adjusters - file claim folders, photocopy, assemble printed projects, etc.
  • Responsible for the index of injury claims, mail matching, and check issuance.
  • Responsible for property and physical damage settlements within authority levels.
  • Other special projects/duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or commensurate experience.
  • Prior claims experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical and legal terminology.
  • PC/CRT competency, including use of word processing and spreadsheets, and ability to learn current computer systems (e.g. POINT).
  • Accurately type 50 wpm.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently at the direction of adjusters/examiners.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with co-workers, agents, claimants, independent adjusters, and law enforcement personnel via oral and written communication.
  • Ability and willingness to strengthen and expand technical skills through on-the-job training, assigned self-study, participation in department training activities and seminars.
