This full time position provides a wide variety of administrative, office automation, and secretarial services to a Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Department of Energy (DOE).

10002: Administrative Assistant Employment Type Full Time/Regular Location DC - Washington Job Description & Responsibilities This full time position provides a wide variety of administrative, office automation, and secretarial services to a Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Department of Energy (DOE). Work performance is frequently of a sensitive and confidential nature, and the incumbent must possess a quality of self-assurance and composure during hectic and turbulent times enhancing the continued efficiency of operations. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Receives telephone and personal calls and visits from individuals within DOE, officials of various Government agencies, nationally known companies, and/or other organizations. 2.Receives and reads incoming correspondence, reports, etc., and screens items that can be handled personally. Forwards other items to the Office and Program Directors or other office members, as appropriate. 3.Maintains the office calendars, schedules appointments and conferences without prior approval, and sees that the Office Director and staff are adequately briefed on the matters to be considered before the scheduled meeting. Arranges interoffice and/or interagency meetings called by the Office Director, contacts offices/agencies involved, and arranges for appropriate representation. 4.Keeps informed on the status and progress of projects, activities, and program developments of concern to the Office Director and staff. 5.Produces from rough drafts, notes, or oral instructions, a variety of written documents (e.g., correspondence, program plans and reports, etc.) utilizing a personal computer (PC) with varied and advanced functions and several types of automation software, as well as applicable printing equipment. Ensures proper spelling, punctuation, capitalization, grammar, format and arrangement, and copying and distribution for material have been followed. As necessary, develops applications to utilize databases or spreadsheet software to store, manipulate, sort, and report statistical and other information from office files and related sources. 6.Establishes, maintains, and utilizes the office filing system for correspondence, records, reference material, reports, etc., to permit the expeditious retrieval of required information. 7.Makes travel arrangements 8.Works as a team with other employees 9.Serves as the Time and Attendance (T&A) administrator 10.Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not required. Two to four years of relevant experience is required. Additional skills/abilities: -Must possess in depth knowledge of Microsoft Suite of software packages, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint -Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail -Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be comfortable with client interaction -Must be a team player willing to support the work of other members of the division -Must work well both individually and on a team -Must be willing and able to learn new information and procedures quickly for new tasks Please apply at https://careers.energetics.com/ using our online application system.
