Seven Counties Services, Inc. Intake Counselor (Specialized Child and Family - ACPS) Louisville, Kentucky This job reports to the Project Coordinator. Relocation is not provided and travel is not required. This is a Part-Time position, working 2nd Shift,M-Th 6pm-12:30am & Fri 5pm-9pm. Number of Openings for this position: 1 Overview This program helps children who are in acute psychiatric or emotional distress remain in their homes and communities, or enter the hospital when necessary. Services include statewide, around-the-clock access to and assessment by crisis intervention/planning counselors; short-term, intensive family and individual therapy; in-home crisis services; immediate access to child psychiatric services; access to residential crisis services; Daybreak Crisis Stabilization Unit; discharge planning for children at Caritas Peace Center who are served under a contract with Ky.'s Cabinet for Families and Children. Job Skills/Requirements GENERAL SUMMARY Under general supervision, responds to all requests for organizational services, assesses potential client service needs, and schedules appointments with appropriate service administrator. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Responds to requests for organizational services and assesses appropriate service sites or programs to meet potential client needs. - Obtains necessary data from new clients to complete applications for services to facilitate scheduling, hospital appointments, and other intake services. - Enters and updates client data and scheduling information into appropriate computer systems, as necessary. - Performs a variety of office support functions to facilitate intake services such as copying, filing, and recordkeeping. - Communicates with clients to confirm and/or reschedule appointments. - Maintains monthly report data relating to numbers of calls taken, appointments scheduled, and referrals made. EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Social Services, Human Behavior Sciences or related field of study. Strong communication skills. Thorough knowledge of principles, procedures, and treatment of mental health disorders, psychology, social services, and crisis intervention. Knowledge of all services provided by SCS and affiliates as well as organizational policies and procedures. Word processing/data entry skills. Basic office support abilities such as filing, recordkeeping, etc. One to two years of social service or related field experience.
