Job Description:
American Campus has established itself as the nation's premier provider of student housing services to colleges and universities, offering private sector assistance in designing, developing, financing and managing on- and off-campus student housing. Our extensive student housing experience enables us to develop innovative student communities that meet the needs of our university partners and clients, while providing the most cost-effective, luxurious student living and learning communities for our student residents. Currently we are looking for energetic self-starters to join our team as Community Assistants. This individual will present a high level of student services to residents while providing a residential environment conducive to academic and personal success by performing the following duties. Maintain Community Standards and Safety Understand, support, abide by, and enforce the community lease policies while providing unparalleled customer service and respect for residents Understand and abide by all American Campus Communities policies and procedures Be familiar with the general maintenance policies and procedures and be available to assist in after hours maintenance emergencies Assist in keeping the community clean by surveying common areas regularly and reporting any concerns and/or helping with the clean up when necessary Report any life safety hazard or maintenance concern encountered while on or off duty Understand, communicate, and enforce community safety, emergency, and fire evacuation policies and procedures, providing emergency response and referral to services and resources Document behaviors of residents that violate the law or the ACC lease agreement, and take appropriate action to stop the behavior Maintain confidentiality in all job responsibilities as it pertains to staff and resident issues Perform Administrative Tasks Report on time to structured administrative shift each week, as determined by your supervisor Work assigned Community Assistant On-Call shifts, which may include evenings, weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays Assist the management staff in the marketing and leasing efforts to maximize the community's occupancy Participate fully in the preparation and administration of Move In, Move Out, Turnover and new resident leasing days (to include marketing, tabling, info. Sessions, etc) Conduct resident move-ins and move-outs on an on-going basis Complete room/apartment inventories, key checks and common area inventories Check in at the community office at the beginning and end of all shifts and check email and mailbox daily Complete and submit required materials in a timely manner such as weekly reports, program proposals and evaluations, etc. Facilitate the administration of Community Service Survey and accurately conduct student census as needed Be a Team Player Participate in all staff training and orientation prior to and during the lease term Act as a liaison between the residents and the maintenance, marketing, and business office staff Attend, and constructively contribute to, all staff meetings and any special/emergency meetings. Participate in recruitment, selection, and training of new staff members as requested by the General Manager. Maintain a professional attitude and manner in your work relationships Develop a Sense of Community Plan, attend, document and evaluate community wide social, recreational, and educational events according to the Programming Model Meet Programming requirements outlined by your supervisor on a term and yearly basis. Mediate conflict and help residents to create a respectful living community Develop a sense among the residents and staff that the community is ¡§the place to be¡¨ Contribute to the community newsletter Become acquainted with and available to each student in the assigned area by the end of the first term of employment Facilitate area meetings for general communication, sharing information, or generating enthusiasm for participation in community events Encourage residents to attend and /or participate in community and university sponsored events Know the appropriate campus and community offices and resources for student referrals Encourage the respect for and appreciation of individual differences Decorate assigned area with inclusive and welcoming material Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: A full-time student (sophmore status or above) To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Email, Internet, Outlook, and Microsoft Office applications. Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business policies and manuals, safety procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and general business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to common inquiries or concerns from residents, prospective tenants, and the general public. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
