The position is located at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Manchester, New Hampshire. Some of the duties include; The position is responsible for and reconciles a cash advance from the Treasury Department daily and assures that adequate cash is on hand at all times The position prepares daily deposit collections for Local Depository (BankBoston) on a daily basis The position distributes final employee salary check and ensures that employee is cleared of all debt before releasing check The position reviews bi-weekly salary checks that have not been claimed by employee and returns them to the Department of Treasury Disbursing Office when appropriate The position is responsible for the two alternate cashiers in the absence of the agent cashier, ensuring that they are knowledgeable of their duties Receiving collections, disbursing funds, and dispatching collection notices Providing administrative and technical support Making disbursements from appropriated funds, special deposit funds and trust funds Recording, processing and submitting collected funds within prescribed time limitations Working in the patient banking facility, receiving funds for credit to hospital accounts and disbursing cash funds to patients for passes, discharges, trial visits and incidental purchases Receiving, separating and distributing salary checks and travel reimbursements Maintaining files and control registers on all types of transactions Performing other duties as assigned Monday thru Friday 8am to 4:30pm ***RELOCATION EXPENSES AND/OR INCENTIVES ARE NOT AUTHORIZED*** QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Back to top REQUIRES: One (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled? To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in Federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include: working as a teller or cashier in a bank, credit union, finance office or medical facility; using a computer to process a variety of financial transactions; disbursing funds to customers/clients; processing cash and check deposits; collecting and posting fee payments; demonstrating a high degree of accuracy in handling financial transactions; entering data and maintaining account receivable package in system; utilizing computer applications and office equipment; and communicating with a variety of people while providing excellent customer service. To receive credit for these skills, they must be documented in your resume. You will be rated on the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other characteristics (KSAOs) as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: 1. Knowledge of accounting, budgets, appropriations and other financial management regulations, policies, procedures and practices as it relates to teller/cashier functions. 2. Knowledge of Department of Treasury, banking and cashiering regulations, policies and rules. 3. Ability to accurately input data and handle financial and cash transactions. 4. Ability to utilize automated accounting, budget and accounts receivable systems, as well as other applications and office equipment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work requires some walking, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting and carrying file storage boxes. Long periods of working at a computer terminal are involved.
