Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree AND minimum two to three years experience advising international students regarding F-1 and J-1 immigration matters. 
• Strong understanding and knowledge of federal immigration rules,
regulations, and policies.
• Previous experience as a SEVIS approved Designated School Official.
• Understanding of and experience using fsaAtlas and the SEVIS
immigration system.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including
experience with public speaking and the ability to present information
in a clear and positive way to students from a variety of cultural
backgrounds. 
• Ability to understand, apply, and communicate complex immigration
regulations and university policy.
• Superior analytical and problem–solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple deadlines
simultaneously.
• Strong organizational skills and careful attention to detail.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.

 

Desired:

• Experience living abroad or extensive travels overseas.

• Sensitivity and understanding of cultural differences and as well as
proven experience working with diverse populations.

 

Condition of Employment:

The position requires a significant amount of time sitting at a desk
and computer station, in addition to standing during presentations and
workshops.  Advisors meet with students regularly but also spend a
great deal of time responding to phone calls and emails as well as
processing immigration related paperwork on the computer through SEVIS
and the fsaAtlas software.
