The Heritage Documentation Programs seeks applications from qualified undergraduate and graduate students for summer employment documenting historic sites and structures of architectural, landscape and technological significance throughout the country.  Duties involve on-site field work and preparation of measured and interpretive drawings for the HABS/HAER/HALS Collections at the Prints and Photographs Division of the Library of Congress.  Projects last 12 weeks beginning in late May or early June and end no later than September 30th.  Salary ranges from approximately $6,307.00 to approximately $10,106.00 for the summer, depending on job responsibility, locality of the project and level education/experience.

Hourly rates for the different grade levels during the summer are:

GS-5 $13.14 - $17.09    GS-7 $16.28 - $21.17

Positions may be filled through out the United States but the majority are typically located in the Washington, DC area.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
  • You must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program
  • Male applicants must meet the Selective Service requirement
